Nora is not your typical Turkish restaurant. Brought to life by brothers Ozgur and Sidar Akyuz, Nora is a refreshing and free-spirited take on Turkish cuisine, built on the vibrancy of Anatolian small plates, the best of British produce and a no-rules, no-dogma approach to creativity. This is a restaurant where hospitality leads the way, where every dish tells a story of heritage and innovation, and where the energy of Canary Wharf meets the warmth of Istanbul’s kitchens.

We are looking for an energetic and professional Senior Bartender to join our team at Nora, Canary Wharf. Nora is rooted in Turkish heritage, with a vision to elevate the food, culture, and experience we bring to our guests. This is an exciting opportunity to bring passion, creativity, and expertise to our bar, with a strong focus on wine, cocktails, and guest engagement. We are building a team full of energy and curiosity, people who love developing their craft and supporting those around them.

About You

You are passionate about drinks, hospitality, and service. You have strong bar knowledge, enjoy talking to guests, and take pride in preparing and serving drinks with care and consistency. But you are not someone who wants to stay in one corner of the restaurant — you like being involved, supporting the floor, and contributing to the overall flow of service. You understand the reality of a small independent business and are excited by the chance to play a hands-on role in helping it grow. You bring energy, professionalism, and a team-first attitude, and you are happy to step in wherever needed to make service stronger.

Your Responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve drinks with precision, consistency, and attention to detail.
  • Deliver warm, attentive, and professional service behind the bar.
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of wines, spirits, and cocktails, confidently guiding guests with recommendations and pairings.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and fully stocked bar at all times.
  • Uphold presentation, quality, and consistency standards across all beverages.
  • Handle guest requests and enquiries with professionalism, care, and confidence.

Floor & Service Support

  • Work closely with the restaurant and kitchen teams to ensure a smooth and seamless guest experience.
  • Support the floor team during busy periods and key moments of service.
  • Be involved in the wider service, not only the bar operation.
  • Help maintain strong communication between bar, floor, and kitchen to keep service flowing effectively.
  • Step in where needed to support a small, ambitious team and contribute to the success of every shift.

Team Contribution

  • Bring energy, positivity, and leadership to service.
  • Support, train, and inspire junior team members through knowledge, example, and attitude.
  • Contribute to a culture of professionalism, care, and genuine hospitality.
  • Play an active role in helping the business grow and develop towards a stronger, more established bar operation.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1–2 years’ experience in a professional bar or restaurant environment.
  • Strong knowledge of wine and spirits, with a genuine passion for learning and sharing that knowledge.
  • Experience in cocktail preparation and classic techniques.
  • Confidence in both guest interaction and wider floor service.
  • Excellent communication skills and a guest-focused approach.
  • Ability to multitask, stay calm under pressure, and perform consistently in a fast-paced environment.
  • A positive, professional, and team-oriented mindset.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Fluent in English; additional languages are a plus.

This Role Is For You If...

  • You love bartending, but also enjoy being part of the wider restaurant service.
  • You want to be more than just a bartender and play a bigger role in the guest experience.
  • You enjoy working in a small independent business where your contribution really matters.
  • You are excited by the idea of helping a growing restaurant reach the next level.
  • You want to be part of building a stronger bar presence within an ambitious team.
