Noost Knit Co. are a small knitwear studio and micro-factory located in Ullapool, one of the most beautiful villages on the North West Coast of Scotland. We opened in 2025, knit our own line of products, and manufacture for others. Our own lines include blankets and accessories, and a range of contemporary garments rooted in the heritage knitting of our Scottish coastal communities. We like to work collaboratively, both within our team and with our clients. People and community are important to us, and we believe that if you love what you do then we can make something that we can all be proud of.

On the technical side, we knit on two Shimas at our shop in the centre of the village. Our linking and finishing is done in a unit across the village, on a mix of Complett and Exacta linkers.

Noost Knit Co. in Ullapool are recruiting for an experienced Knitwear Linker to join their team. This can be a full or part-time position, and can be carried out here in Ullapool or can be remote if preferred. Applicants wanting to work freelance may be considered.

The Knitwear Linker will be experienced in linking a range of products and garments in gauges 5gg to 12gg. They will work on assembling runs of established products, and work closely with our design team to develop new ranges. The successful candidate will enjoy working as a key member of our growing team. They will have excellent attention to detail, and take pride in producing consistently high quality products. The role has the opportunity to include Shima operation and other parts of the knitting process, if the candidate wishes.

Essential Skills and Responsibilities:

  • Using industrial linking machines across a range of gauges
  • Linking various garment shapes to a high standard
  • Good working knowledge and experience of working with natural yarns
  • Experience working in a premium knitwear environment
  • Able to work collaboratively with the design team
  • Knitwear finishing techniques (minor repairs, tying in ends, sewing labels)
  • Excellent attention to detail, with a high level of accuracy and consistency
  • Ability to maintain quality control
  • Able to work proactively and independently, and meet agreed deadlines
  • Maintaining an orderly and structured workplace
