I’m supporting a forward‑thinking public sector organisation as they continue an ambitious transformation journey — including a once‑in‑a‑generation Local Government Reorganisation. They’re looking for an experienced Head of Finance (Technical) to lead a critical function and help shape the financial future of the organisation and the community it serves. This is a fantastic opportunity for a senior finance professional who thrives in complex environments, enjoys driving improvement, and wants to play a key role during a major period of change.
What you’ll lead:
- Statutory accounting, treasury management, taxation & financial compliance
- Year‑end processes, closure of accounts & Statement of Accounts
- Advisory support to senior leaders, committees & decision‑makers
- Management of the Technical, Treasury, Insurance, Income & Payments teams
- Innovation, compliance improvements & risk mitigation initiatives
What we’re looking for:
- Fully qualified accountant (CIPFA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent)
- Strong leadership and people‑management experience
- Proven track record in delivering high‑quality financial services
- Excellent communication and influencing skills
- Agile, proactive and comfortable working in a changing environment
- Public sector or local government experience is highly desirable
