Department: Operational Risk
Role Overview: The role resides in the EMEA Operational Risk function with key responsibilities for 2nd Line of Defence (2LoD) oversight of the Technology Department and Business Resilience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the EMEA ORM Head of Technology Risk in facing off to senior 1st line stakeholders, both regionally and globally.
- Challenge the completeness and accuracy of risk self‑assessments and ensure mitigation actions are implemented appropriately.
- Assist the global Technology Risk team in establishing a consistent approach to Technology risk management across the business.
- Develop a close working relationship with key business stakeholders and communicate operational risk developments and requirements.
- Provide support and challenge to stakeholders in developing and maintaining Operational Risk products (RCSAs, KRIs, Scenario Analysis and event management).
- Identify key trends and issues requiring further investigation and follow up with the business.
Key Success Factors:
- Excellent relationship management skills with Technology and Business Resilience management throughout the region and globally.
- Strong knowledge of industry Technology Risk & Control frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001, COBIT, CIS) and Business Resilience regulations such as DORA and UK Operational Resilience rules.
- Good coordination, documentation and presentation abilities; capable of conducting deep‑dive investigations and scenario analyses.
- Ability to work effectively within a global team, collaborating across regions and disciplines.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
- Experience in operational risk or related functions within financial services, particularly in Technology risk and Business Resilience.
- Knowledge of regulatory drivers and legal frameworks in the Technology and Resilience space.
- Proficient data analysis skills using Excel.
- Understanding of the role of Operational Risk in a Wholesale business.
- Commercial awareness and understanding of key business priorities.
- Solid grasp of the components of an operational risk management framework.
