Role overview
Focus on providing strong technical and operational management expertise to support the GIS Operational Resilience function. Operate, plan and support application and service recovery testing while maintaining recovery environments with a strong focus on automation.
Responsibilities
- Day-to-day operations of an isolated recovery environment.
- Plan and execute recovery testing of applications.
- Adopt automation mindset, tearing down recovery rooms post testing.
- Collaborate with technical recovery leads to continually improve the service.
- Ensure recovery environment is secure and updated with latest patching and security safeguards.
Qualifications & Skills
- Deep technical knowledge of IT Infrastructure (servers, networks, storage & virtualization).
- Understanding of application stack and dependencies (AD, DNS, NTP).
- Experience with ESXi & vCenter.
- Proficiency with infrastructure monitoring tools.
- Strong understanding of security principles.
- Understanding of disaster recovery architecture and principles.
- Capacity planning and management.
- Proactive monitoring and keeping environments running.
- Planning and implementing upgrades & patches.
Recovery Test Support
- Setup and maintain application recovery profiles.
- Plan and manage recovery test schedule.
- Support test execution, validate and support application recovery test cycles.
- Provide technical support for the platform and liaise with vendor where necessary.
- Implement automation within infrastructure services to reduce manual task dependency.
- Maintain knowledge base including best practice & support information.
- Design and support training plans to build internal SME knowledge.
Knowledge Required
- Proficiency within infrastructure (maintain VMs, network configuration).
- Automation tooling experience (Ansible, Python, scripting).
- ServiceNow integration.
