Nomura is establishing a new Global Sourcing function to operate across group companies, regions and functions, delivering cost efficiency, commercial and contract risk mitigation, and driving efficiencies through spend category support, vendor consolidation, and group-wide economies of scale.
Role Responsibilities:
- Lead a category team of six members across the UK, Singapore, Japan and India.
- Develop and execute an overall spend category strategy in partnership with stakeholders.
- Oversee and mentor team members in other regions.
- Manage and/or provide oversight to category-wide efficiency and governance initiatives.
- Manage new deals and renewals, including influencing sourcing strategies, leading RFPs and complex negotiations.
- Interact with senior internal clients and senior representatives from external vendors.
- Create and present impactful deal summaries and recommendations.
- Collaborate within cross‑functional and cross‑regional teams.
- Provide a commercial advisory service to key stakeholders.
- Meet or exceed financial and non‑financial performance targets.
- Build and maintain collaborative relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
- Contribute materially to the development of Nomura’s Global Sourcing function, including policy, procedures and technology.
- When applicable, execute Business Continuity plans and proactive operational risk management.
Skills, Experience, Qualifications and Knowledge Required:
- Degree level qualification or equivalent.
- Professional sourcing or procurement qualification (e.g., CIPS) desirable.
- Several years’ experience sourcing relevant spend categories in a blue‑chip environment.
- Proven track record of leading commercial and contract activities, including strategic planning and portfolio opportunity analysis.
- Experience with senior‑management level influencing and negotiation.
- Ability to influence sourcing strategies for individual projects.
- Experience in internal/market analysis, competitive bidding and global agreement negotiations.
- Re‑negotiation and value extraction from legacy or incumbent suppliers.
- Knowledge of pricing and contracting mechanisms for global enterprise suppliers.
- Comprehensive understanding of commercial levers, legal terms and conditions for IT Infrastructure contracts (Network, Hardware, Managed and Outsourced Services, Data Centre).
- Knowledge of other IT spend categories (Software/Cloud, Staff Augmentation, Cyber/Information Security) beneficial.
- Knowledge of supply market, supplier capabilities and expected trends at geographic and global levels.
- Experience in a banking environment an advantage but not essential.
- Cross‑regional staff management experience essential.
- Ability to motivate, organise and develop team members.
- Strong commercial and contract negotiation skills.
- High credibility, effective communication, and influence senior external vendors and internal clients.
- Self‑starter capable of working with minimal supervision and managing large volumes of projects.
- Effective collaboration with cross‑functional teams.
- Ability to drive projects to conclusion while maintaining high quality of delivery.
