Nomura's Investment Banking Division provides a vast array of advisory and capital-raising solutions to corporations, financial institutions, governments and public-sector organizations around the world. Our global teams act as geographic, product and industry specialists. The Iberia Coverage and M&A team seeks to build and maintain long-term relationships with major Spanish, Portuguese and European corporates and private equity firms, along with leading and supporting the execution of a variety of deals across the region. To capitalize on its strong momentum and significant deal flow in the region, we are looking to hire at the Associate level to help support the strong growth witnessed across our client franchise.
Part of the Debt Advisory team and involved in the origination and execution of debt advisory mandates which are either standalone or part of M&A mandates. The Debt Advisory team is looking for an Analyst/Associate who will report to MD Head of Debt Advisory. The Debt Advisory team provides advice across all sectors covered by the broader investment bank team, including: Greentech, Infrastructure and Industrials, Consumer, Healthcare, FIG and TMS.
Key objectives critical to success:
- Works closely with industry and geographical coverage teams, aiding in structuring and raising of debt capital in the context of M&A transactions or stand-alone refinancing / debt raises.
- Keeps close contact / monitors / reviews clients' portfolios to identify and track potential debt opportunities and financing needs (growth, capex, pending maturity etc).
- Develop a deep understanding and network of potential lenders.
- Produce content and deliver marketing and transaction execution.
- Support VP / ED / MDs in all phases of transaction execution, and escalates pinch-points in transactions to the superiors as and when necessary.
- Day to day involvement in pitch creation, structuring, modelling of transactions as well as reviewing of company, diligence materials and financials agreement on behalf of the clients.
- Develop and maintain lender and client relationship at equivalent level.
- Train and develop junior bankers; participate in recruiting and talent management initiatives.
Skills, experience, qualifications and knowledge to include:
- Experience of working within Investment Banking, Transaction Services or boutique advisory firm.
- Experience of debt capital markets, bank lending, private lending markets.
- Distinctive academic record: consistently highly rated versus their peer group.
- Desire to learn and contribute to originating and executing high profile debt advisory mandates.
- Exceptional quantitative and analytical skills.
- Strong written and verbal communications skills - ability to interact confidently with clients and other professionals.
- Strong team orientation and a demonstrated ability to work effectively with team members in multiple groups or regions.
- Ability to work under pressure in a dynamic environment in order to meet deadlines.
