The position is for a Senior Software Engineer to work in a global development team within Global Markets IT. The successful candidate will join a team that is developing a new global cross-asset trading processing platform for Global Markets, as well as undertaking the enhancement and maintenance of existing Global Markets trade processing systems. The role would be with the London team, which leads the global team.

The candidate will be part of a global development team with responsibility for designing, building and deploying a global trade processing system in a series of phased deliverables. This will involve the following:

  • Development and testing of services that are critical for the capture, persistence and distribution of trades and related data, and services to provide those trades to other GMIT systems on-demand and in real time.
  • Leverage Nomura DevOps services for deployment of services to non-production and production environments.
  • System support (not 1st level support) and maintenance.
  • Coordinate with other Global Markets technology teams to assist in developing comprehensive capabilities across various applications.

Skills, experience, qualifications and knowledge required:

  • The ability to work within a global team spread across multiple time zones will be key; good interpersonal and communication skills are required.
  • The desire to work within a technology team whose primary focus is on providing services to other IT systems is important.
  • Strong Java development skills with an understanding of the role of testing, DevOps etc. in the development cycle.
  • An understanding of distributed messaging technologies, ideally including experience of JMS, Apache Pulsar or Solace.
  • Experience with relational databases, such as MS SQL Server.
  • Knowledge of frameworks such as Spring, Spring Boot, and Project Reactor/Spring Webflux would be ideal.
  • Skills in JavaScript/React and/or Python would be beneficial.
  • Knowledge of AI would be useful as the team looks to leverage use of AI in development workflows and build tools to integrate Trade Processing with AI solutions.
