Department Overview
The Asset Backed and Trade Finance desk is a diverse business within Nomura’s Securitized Products division that brings together broad capabilities across financing, underwriting, structuring and risk management to provide holistic solutions to our clients. The group works closely with Investment Banking and Global Markets sales to originate, execute and distribute transactions. The desk’s broad mandate and expertise allow it to position its risk taking and activities where it identifies the highest relative value propositions with a focus on identifying market opportunities which require novel and creative solutions that do not fall within the standard boxes serviced by more industrialised competitors.
During the past ten years, the desk has in particular developed a cutting‑edge franchise in non‑performing loans speciality finance and financing of esoteric receivables with a focus on senior financing but with the ability to go deeper in the capital structure when opportunities arise.
