Department overview

Front Office Risk is responsible for implementation of effective First Line of Defense Economic Risk Management within Wholesale. The team covers economic risk of all Global Markets business in the region; Flow and Structured Rates, FX & Emerging Markets, Credit (Flow & Structured), Equity Products and Lending.

Responsibilities

Front Office Risk Management is looking to hire a mid-senior level professional to join the team covering the EMEA business. The Risk Manager will need to oversee all significant financial risks (notably Market and Counterparty) across all products as well as lead and execute key enhancements to our risk platform. In particular, the role will require quantitative and qualitative analysis on material positions and risk; working closely with Trading Desks and other stakeholders in evaluating and making decisions on these risks.

  • Monitoring and reporting on various trading desks within EMEA GM as well as building out python code for analysis and analytics.
  • Ensuring all key risks in EMEA Global Markets business lines are identified, assessed, quantified where possible, monitored, and escalated where needed.
  • Monitor and review risk profiles, market activity and key flashpoints in Trading Desk and Counterparty portfolios.
  • Understand and articulate the most significant risks and the factors driving performance.
  • Conduct regular analysis using techniques like Stress testing, Concentration/Liquidity assessment, P&L Attribution, VaR, etc and produce appropriate assessments and recommendations.
  • Play a leading role in driving the development of our risk platform including stress/scenario analysis, risk tools and new approaches to analyzing risk.
  • Work closely and communicate effectively within the team, Corporate Risk, Traders, Global Markets management and Corporate control functions.
  • Stop loss management for EMEA traders and working with them for any risk reductions required in line with the stop loss policy.

Qualifications

  • Strong problem-solving and quantitative skills + good knowledge of statistics and financial models.
  • Strong analytical skills and excel skills.
  • Experience writing code in Python.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills as the job will involve a permanent interaction with the traders and all the support functions.
  • Self-starter, extremely proactive, very detailed, can-do approach, intellectually inquisitive with strong desire to get things done.
