The Role
Assisting the Company Secretary team in delivering a professional and broad-ranging Company Secretarial service to the Board, its committees, and the executive team, supporting the provision of good corporate governance throughout the Group. The team is accountable for ensuring the company complies with statutory and regulatory requirements under UK company law, while maintaining accurate corporate and membership records, and this role will support this. The team works closely with the legal team, and at times, this role will assist the legal team in areas where there are aligned activities. As a membership‑governed organisation, our governance is a critical interface between our membership community, our board, and our company.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Support the maintenance of statutory registers, Companies House filings, and compliance with relevant legislation and governance codes.
- You’ll also help manage membership records and processes, maintain accurate documentation in SharePoint and other systems, and support general governance administration, including SOPs, horizon scanning, and ad‑hoc project work.
- Support the end‑to‑end coordination of board and committee meetings, including agendas, paper collation, logistics, and event support.
- You’ll assist with meeting preparation and follow‑up, including minutes, action tracking, governance calendars, and ensuring timely distribution of high‑quality board materials.
- You may also attend meetings where required.
- Support the use of digital tools, including AI, to improve governance processes and contribute to initiatives that enhance efficiency and scalability within the team.
About You
- Impeccable attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise accordingly.
- An effective communicator with excellent interpersonal skills.
- Strong organisational skills.
- Strong experience working within the Office 365 suite, including SharePoint, and an interest in using AI to drive efficiency.
Nice to have
- Some legal or governance training, e.g. a law degree or Chartered Governance Institute UK.
