We are looking for a Freelance/ Part-time Women’s Fashion Designer for our in-season brand Saige by Nomads. Saige is an elevated, trend led in season brand which has a quick turnaround. The freelance designer should specialize in creating innovative, trend-driven, and customer-focused designs for the women’s wear market. This role involves overseeing the full design lifecycle—from concept development to final sample.

Key Responsibilities

  • Concept Development & Trend Research: Conduct research on global fashion trends, colour palettes, fabrics, and silhouettes. Create seasonal mood boards, and design themes tailored to customer needs. Produce detailed sketches using hand illustration or digital tools (Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.). Create unique design elements including prints, trims, embroideries, and surface embellishments.
  • Technical Development: Use current tech packs to include measurements, construction details, fabric specifications, etc. and communicate the same with overseas factories.
  • Fabric & Material Selection: Recommend fabrics, trims, accessories, suitable for the collection. Source materials based on budget, availability, quality, sustainability, and performance.
  • Sample Coordination & Fit Reviews: Collaborate with overseas manufacturers to produce first samples and prototypes. Conduct fit sessions to refine garment construction and silhouette. Make corrections and improvements to ensure final products meet aesthetic and quality standards.
  • Cross-Functional Team Coordination: Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including pattern makers, merchandisers from factories, production managers (based in India), sales team and buying team. Align timelines, technical specifications, cost considerations, and production.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong design sensibility with a deep understanding of women’s body shapes and fashion preferences.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, or similar software.
  • Knowledge of garment construction, pattern making, and fabric behaviour.
  • Ability to create tech packs and communicate with production teams.
  • Strong communication, time management, and client-handling abilities.
  • Creativity, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently.
