PURPOSE & IMPACT: This role is known for leading and shaping Nomad Foods’ public affairs and media strategy, driving initiatives that strengthen corporate reputation and influence policy across multiple markets. This role provides strategic counsel to senior leadership, oversees complex advocacy and communications projects, and ensures alignment of corporate affairs priorities with business objectives.
We need someone who will act as a trusted advisor, manage high-level stakeholder and agency relationships, and mentor junior team members. Someone who will resemble Nomad Foods’ values and be a true advocate for the Company and frozen food more generally.
Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership & Advisory: Develop and execute advanced public affairs and corporate communications strategies, ensuring integration with commercial priorities. Provide strategic advice and risk assessment to senior leadership on media and political issues. Support the Group Head of Corporate Affairs to prepare senior spokespeople ahead of government or EU institution meetings and media interviews.
- Public Affairs & Policy Leadership (UK & EU): Lead on UK and EU public affairs strategy: monitor legislation, analyse regulatory developments, and shape policy positions. Represent Nomad Foods in public affairs forums, consultations, and industry coalitions.
- Stakeholder Engagement & External Relations: Build and maintain relationships with policymakers, regulators, trade associations, NGOs, and media.
- Advocacy, Campaigns & Thought Leadership: Drive creation of high-impact policy messaging, thought leadership and advocacy campaigns on topics such as food security, nutrition, sustainability and innovation.
- Media, Issues & Crisis Management: Manage media and political issues and crisis, providing strategic advice to senior leadership and supporting issues training across European markets.
- Team & Agency Leadership: Lead and manage external agency partners, ensuring delivery of best-in-class delivery. Mentor and guide more junior team members to support their professional growth.
- Operational Management & Governance: Oversee budget planning and performance reporting for the Corporate Affairs function.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate across functions and markets to align advocacy, internal capabilities and communication strategies with business goals.
Qualifications
- Significant experience in corporate communications and/or government affairs at a senior level.
- Proven track record of influencing policy and managing complex stakeholder relationships.
- Strong issues management and crisis communication experience.
- Deep understanding of UK and European political and media landscapes.
- Experience advising senior executives and managing high-profile engagements.
- Skilled in digital communications and social media strategy.
- Experience managing agencies and mentoring team members.
