Field Service Engineer

We are currently working with a well‑established and highly respected specialist within the waste management industry, who are seeking an experienced Field Service Engineer to join their growing team.

With over 28 years of industry success, the business has built a reputation for delivering high‑quality waste handling solutions and exceptional customer service.

Due to continued growth and increasing demand, they are looking to strengthen their engineering team with the addition of a skilled engineer experienced in servicing and maintaining recycling and waste management equipment.

Employment type: Permanent, full‑time. Location: Nottingham (Field‑based). Hours: 50 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Salary: £55,000 - £60,000 per annum + Company Van + Benefits.

Responsibilities

  • Installing, commissioning, and providing operator training on balers, compactors, and associated recycling equipment.
  • Diagnosing faults and carrying out service, maintenance, and repair work on customer sites and at company facilities.
  • Performing electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical fault finding.
  • Refurbishing machinery to a high standard.
  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical documentation.
  • Completing digital service reports and maintenance records.
  • Liaising professionally with customers and providing technical support.
  • Working closely with internal departments to ensure efficient project and service delivery.
  • Ensuring compliance with Health & Safety regulations and safe working practices.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience working on balers, compactors, or similar recycling and waste management machinery.
  • Strong electrical and hydraulic fault‑finding experience.
  • Welding experience is essential.
  • Fabrication experience would be advantageous.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage workloads effectively.
  • Flexibility to undertake occasional overnight stays (approximately one night away every two weeks) and Saturday work (paid at overtime rates).
