We are working with a reputable MOT & Service Garage in Knutsford seeking a skilled professional to play a pivotal role in the day-to-day running of their garage. About the Role
You will carry out hands-on mechanical work to a high standard, combining technical excellence with strong organisational skills and helping to maintain the high standards the garage is known for. As a senior member of the team you'll lead by example on the workshop floor, and, should you wish to progress, there is a genuine opportunity to take on workflow management, quality assurance, and wider workshop responsibilities as you move towards a Workshop Manager role. For the right person there is also a clear path into Workshop Management in the future, should you wish to take on those responsibilities, but this is entirely optional and driven by your own ambitions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, support, and mentor technicians to ensure smooth workshop operations
- Perform diagnostic tests and identify complex mechanical issues
- Oversee routine servicing, repairs, and MOT preparation
- Carry out mechanical work to a high standard, including part replacements and safety checks
- Maintain accurate job records and ensure compliance with MOT and safety regulations
- Liaise confidently with customers, providing clear explanations and excellent service
- Uphold workshop efficiency, organisation, and Health & Safety compliance
- Conduct MOT tests (if MOT-qualified)
Experience & Skills Required
- Proven experience as a Senior Mechanic, Technician, or Workshop Manager
- Strong diagnostic, mechanical, electrical, and electronic knowledge
- MOT Tester qualification preferred but not essential
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure
- Valid driver’s licence
