We are currently working with a world-leading manufacturer of materials handling solutions. They design, manufacture and distribute forklift components to OEMs and customers worldwide. We are seeking an Area Sales Manager to cover the UK South East region. Reporting to the UK Managing Director, this role is responsible for the systematic development of business activities within the assigned territory by closely managing customers, strengthening long-term relationships, and increasing market share in growth segments and key target industries.
The successful candidate will be supported by international industrial managers and will actively use Salesforce to analyse and optimise sales activities, pipeline development, and customer engagement.
- Developing and managing the assigned customer portfolio, ensuring close customer coverage and strengthening long-term partnerships.
- Driving marketing and sales development initiatives, managing opportunities, customer master data and interactions in Salesforce with clear CRM objectives and disciplined pipeline and closed-lost reporting.
- Managing the full sales process through to closing, ensuring delivery against agreed sales targets, preparing quotations and managing follow-up.
- Preparing and presenting monthly sales forecasts and maintaining up-to-date product and application knowledge of the catalogue.
- Prospecting, planning and conducting customer visits, and presenting product solutions to customers, prospects and end users.
- Identifying and qualifying new business opportunities through market observation, research and proactive acquisition activities.
- Analysing target companies and sectors to position the portfolio effectively (e.g. size, turnover, volumes and application requirements).
Experience in a comparable sales role, preferably within materials handling and a B2B environment. Excellent technical, organisational, communication and presentation skills. Proven commercial capability across the full sales process, with strong negotiation skills. Self-motivated and able to work autonomously, with a strong commitment to continuous improvement and professional development. Strong IT skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office, and good knowledge of CRM processes; experience with Salesforce is highly valued. Full UK Driving Licence.
