The Role
Nolan Recruitment are delighted to be recruiting on behalf of a valued client for a proactive and detail-oriented Operations Assistant. This is a varied and fast-paced position within a busy logistics environment, supporting the coordination of international shipments including imports, exports and cross-trade consignments. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring shipments are managed efficiently, compliantly, and to the highest standards of customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver excellent customer service to an on-site customer
- Prepare shipping and transport quotations
- Complete export customs declarations
- Book shipments with hauliers, forwarders, depots and shipping lines
- Prepare export documentation including invoices, packing lists and despatch notes
- Enter shipment bookings into internal systems
- Manage and support specific projects where required
- Expedite shipments and resolve any queries
- Process supplier and customer invoices, ensuring accuracy
- Handle telephone enquiries and liaise with internal teams and external partners
About You
We are looking for someone who is organised, customer-focused and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Experience in an Operations Assistant role within a freight forwarding environment
- Good understanding of shipping methods and terminology
- Knowledge of Incoterms 2020 and the logistics industry
- Strong customer service background
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to build effective relationships with customers and suppliers

- Experience across all modes of transport (import/export)
- Knowledge of customs procedures
- Strong time management and prioritisation skills
