As a full-time private boarding secondary school, it offers Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP), and A-level qualifications.

Position Summary: The Teacher develops the A-level Math course within the A-Level structure. Once the course development is completed, the teacher will primarily teach this course remotely. The Teacher collaborates closely with students and other academic staff in a diverse cultural setting to maintain a productive teaching and learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Creates and organizes all teaching materials and resources, including unit plans, lesson plans, assessments, and solutions or criteria of assessments on the teaching platform Canvas and the school management system (OneDrive).
  • Plans 12 weeks of teaching, learning, and assessment materials, including 36 hours of live teaching and at least 74 hours for guided self-directed learning.
  • Creates two 1.5-hour live teaching PPTs per week and an additional three 2-hour PPTs for self-guided learning. The total AOLs will add up to at least 9 hours.
  • Prioritizes using A-Level related materials (textbooks and resources) to meet OSSD requirements.
  • Uses purchased or free resources, ensuring copyright acknowledgment (consults with the school librarian if necessary).
  • Works cooperatively with the Vice Principal and online administration team to complete all tasks.

As for the teaching job (Remote basis): The course will be taught twice a week over 12 weeks, totaling 36 hours of instruction (excluding breaks). The course is fully online, with schedule details to be discussed after course development.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in the relevant subject area.
  • Knowledge and experience with experiential learning, including service and inquiry-based learning.
  • A-Level knowledge or experience is an asset.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • High proficiency in applying technology to enhance teaching and learning.
  • Experience with ESL students is an asset.
  • At least 1 year of A-Level Math teaching experience (preferred).
