9 million UK adults have credit scores that don’t reflect their true financial status. They face exclusion from mainstream borrowing (0-30% APR), and are forced into higher-cost options (often 42%-90% APR). Our mission is to build a challenger Credit Reference Agency that reshapes credit scoring in a fairer and smarter way, and in doing so, saves the UK economy £6 billion in annual interest expense.
Noggin’s core technology helps companies accept more creditworthy individuals. Today, we do this by automatically categorising and enriching Open Banking data collected as part of credit applications.
The role:
To succeed in this role, you must excel in a fast-paced, high-execution culture, and maintain exceptional standards at a critical stage. In particular, you will:
Own the design, development, and deployment of key features, while setting technical direction and standards.
Build scalable, maintainable, and high-performance systems from the ground up.
Collaborate closely with the Founders, Senior Leadership Team, and Data Team, to shape the product roadmap.
Make technical decisions that balance speed, quality, and long‑term scalability.
Follow secure development practices and uphold the highest standards as it relates to IT security.
Take initiative in solving challenging technical problems with minimal oversight.
Be a self‑starter who can take real ownership and responsibility for their work and objectives, be highly organised and have excellent communication & time management skills.
React / Next JS frontend with Material UI – essential
NestJS backend with Typescript – essential
Drizzle ORM – desirable
Experience & skills:
5+ years of experience as a Software Engineer utilising essential current tech stack.
Database management and database optimisation.
Domain relevant experience, e.g., have worked at an FCA/PRA-regulated firm, including banks, lenders, financial data companies, credit risk companies, Credit Reference Agencies.
Comfortable with AWS and Cloud Infrastructure.
Understand ISO 27001 requirements.
