Energi Coast is the North East of England’s offshore wind cluster, bringing together regional industry leaders and the wider stakeholder community. It serves as a collaborative platform that promotes the local supply chain and the region as a global hub and centre of excellence for offshore wind. Through a focused programme of meetings, events and targeted marketing campaigns, Energi Coast strengthens supply-chain integration and raises the profile of regional capabilities across UK and international markets.

The role of the Energi Coast Cluster Development Manager offers a unique opportunity to support North East England’s growing offshore wind sector, working with a range of key senior stakeholders including businesses, academia and public sector delivering specialised projects, and leading a mature and well-developed offshore wind cluster. Working alongside the small but dynamic team at NOF, this hands-on cluster manager will support the day-to-day cluster operations to ensure the delivery of regular leadership group meetings, activities, events, campaigns, and projects.

Energi Coast is owned and operated by NOF and the Energi Coast Cluster Development Manager will be an employee of NOF. NOF is a membership body for the energy sector, based in North East England with members across the UK. The main role of NOF is to provide impactful business development support to its members through events, profile raising, industry intelligence and personalised industry introductions. It also connects suppliers with project developers, highlighting business opportunities in the current and future projects pipeline.

Job Purpose:

  • To lead on the development of the cluster and commercialisation plan.
  • To lead on the effective planning and delivery of Energi Coast activities including events, marketing and business development in the region, UK and overseas.
  • To lead on research projects and campaigns to profile and position the region.
  • To develop meaningful and strategic relationships with key stakeholders involved in the cluster, regional public sector bodies, suppliers, and partners.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Cluster management: Energi Coast first point of contact for Leadership Group and wider regional offshore wind supply chain, stakeholders, partners, media including any cluster enquiries.
  • Organise and coordinate the extensive schedule of Leadership Group meetings including diary management, note taking, venue and supplier liaison etc.
  • Provide light touch support for Energi Coast sub groups such as Skills and Innovation.
  • Plan and coordinate Energi Coast and offshore wind meetings and engagement with key regional and UK stakeholders.
  • Hold regular catch ups with the Energi Coast chair and sub group Leads to understand key industry challenges.
  • Encourage companies to utilise the directory to source suppliers for project related activities.
  • Participate in business development and update meetings with Leadership Group companies.
  • Lead on securing the long-term financial sustainability of the cluster working with NOF Directors.
  • Develop and implement a commercialisation plan.
  • Develop an offshore wind growth plan to encourage more companies to join the offshore wind cluster.
  • Identify potential Leadership Group participants and potential regional offshore wind ambassadors.
  • Lead and manage research and supply chain projects.
  • Identify the potential to use the Energi Coast model to develop other energy clusters.

Cluster activities and operations:

  • Work with the NOF Executive team to forward plan Energi Coast extensive UK & global event and marketing activities.
  • Work with the events team on the operational delivery of Energi Coast events.
  • Develop and implement a marketing plan to promote the cluster across various platforms.
  • Maintain and update the Energi Coast website including cluster profiles, news and events.

Finance and budgets:

  • Responsible for managing public sector funding and associated claims & reporting submissions.
  • Prepare and maintain Energi Coast budget.

Other Duties:

  • Act as ‘Ambassador’ for NOF & Energi Coast.
  • Present about Energi Coast as and when required both internally and externally.
  • Proactively contribute to NOF staff updates, weekly leadership team meetings, annual business planning and Energi Coast Leadership Group meetings.
  • Proactively identify member & Energi Coast ‘good news’ stories / case studies.
  • Develop and maintain an active and professional profile within the NOF membership, Energi Coast cluster & wider offshore wind supply chain.
  • Represent the organisation and regional cluster at local, national and potentially overseas events.
  • Support for NOF as and when required, build relationships with key partners & stakeholders.
  • Identify and assist in the recruitment of new NOF members and cluster companies.
  • Active use of social media networks such as LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram.
  • Perform any duties commensurate with the position as required.

Knowledge & Skills Required:

  • Knowledge of the offshore wind sector.
  • Ability to think strategically and communicate confidently and concisely.
  • Ambitious and focused with a drive to succeed.
  • Excellent knowledge of business development, events and marketing including social media channels.
  • Excellent organisation skills and ability to coordinate multiple meetings / diaries.
  • Ability to manage third parties in the quest to organise successful projects.
  • IT literate with experience of using a CRM system and all aspects of Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Good negotiation skills to achieve best costs.
  • Creative skills with good eye for detail.
  • Understanding of brand guidelines.
  • Good knowledge of office practices, administration, and customer service.
  • Able to operate over several projects and meet tight deadlines.
  • Capable of operating at senior level and with businesses of all sizes.
  • Presentation and public speaking skills.

Education & Experience:

  • Experience working in the offshore wind sector.
  • Demonstrable experience in events, marketing and business development.
  • Project management experience is desirable.
  • Car owner and willing to travel throughout UK and internationally to represent NOF & Energi Coast.
