Senior Social Worker – Children & Families
ABOUT THE ROLE
Nocturnal Recruitment Solutions are recruiting for an experienced Senior Social Worker to join a busy Children and Family Team within a local authority setting in Brent.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Children's Social Worker with strong statutory experience who is confident working with children and families, managing complex caseloads and undertaking statutory assessments and safeguarding interventions.
A minimum of 3 years post-qualifying experience is required for this position.
The successful candidate will have recent experience working within a statutory Children and Families environment and be confident working on duty, undertaking Section 47 enquiries, attending child protection conferences and completing court-directed assessments under Section 7.
There is also potential for the temporary position to become a permanent opportunity for the right candidate, should they be interested.
- KEY EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Minimum of 3 years post-qualifying experience as a Social Worker.
- Strong experience within statutory Children's Social Care and Children & Families services.
- Recent experience working on duty and responding to referrals and safeguarding concerns.
- Strong experience undertaking Section 47 enquiries.
- Experience attending and contributing to child protection conferences.
- Experience working with children and families where cases may be passed to a Child Protection and Court Team.
- Experience undertaking court-directed assessments under Section 7 of the Children Act 1989.
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding, child protection procedures and relevant children's social care legislation.
- Ability to manage a complex caseload and work effectively within a busy statutory service.
- Excellent assessment, report-writing, communication and professional decision-making skills.
- Current Social Work England registration.
- Relevant Social Work qualification.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage a caseload of children and families and undertake high-quality statutory assessments and interventions.
- Participate in duty arrangements, responding appropriately to referrals, concerns and requests for support.
- Undertake Section 47 enquiries and assess risk where children may be experiencing or at risk of significant harm.
- Attend child protection conferences and contribute professional assessments, recommendations and reports.
- Undertake court-directed assessments under Section 7 and prepare clear, accurate reports.
- Work collaboratively with children, parents, carers and partner agencies to safeguard children and achieve positive outcomes.
- Ensure all case records, assessments, reports and plans are completed accurately and within statutory timescales.
- Work in accordance with safeguarding procedures, relevant legislation and local authority policies.
- Maintain a child-centred approach and ensure the voice, wishes and feelings of children are reflected throughout your work.
DESIRABLE
- A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is desirable.
- Candidates who are local to Brent and the surrounding areas are desirable.
