The HR team plays a central role in supporting Nockolds’ people‑first culture, ensuring colleagues have the guidance, tools and processes they need to thrive and deliver exceptional service to our clients. Working in partnership with leaders across the firm, HR provides a professional, approachable and confidential service across the full employee lifecycle – from recruitment and onboarding, through learning and development, performance and wellbeing, to employee relations and policy. We also support firmwide initiatives such as workforce planning, people data and systems, and continuous improvement of the employee experience, helping Nockolds remain an inclusive, values‑led workplace where everyone can grow and feel supported.
You will provide accurate and timely HR and L&D administration that supports the employee lifecycle from recruitment to leaving, keeping HR records and systems up to date, and contributing to a positive colleague experience. You will be responsible for:
- Supporting onboarding for new joiners, including co‑ordination of inductions, reference requests, buddy allocation, filing new starter documentation/ID, and arranging DBS checks.
- Administration of our benefits including private healthcare, life assurance, pension, and car park.
- Supporting the salary review and bonus process, as required.
- Keeping SelectHR records up to date, including changes to personal details, job information, and absence records.
- Generating ad‑hoc reports as required.
- Supporting the organisation of trainee interview days, the vacation placement scheme, and school/law fairs.
- Coordinating interviews, liaising with candidates, interviewers, and recruitment agencies.
- Supporting the development review process, including collating paperwork and updating records.
- Maintaining data in the Learning Management System (LMS), including adding internal events, updating details, and monitoring registrations.
- Processing requests for external training and ensuring relevant details are recorded on the LMS.
- Coordinating logistics for internal and externally delivered L&D events, including rooms, catering and travel (where needed) and supporting the L&D Manager to promote learning events, including drafting emails and intranet articles.
- Acting as a first point of contact for HR and L&D queries, resolving routine queries, and escalating more complex matters appropriately.
This role is offered as an apprenticeship position and will include dedicated study/off‑the‑job training time during working hours, in line with apprenticeship requirements (for example, a minimum of 7 hours per week, depending on the programme).
You will have A Levels (or equivalent) at grade C or above, be confident using Microsoft 365 (including Outlook, Word, and Excel), and be willing to learn HR and L&D systems and processes (e.g., SelectHR and the LMS) while working towards the apprenticeship qualification. You can communicate clearly and professionally, work collaboratively, and handle confidential HR information with tact and discretion. You will be organised and accurate, manage time and priorities effectively, show initiative, and follow through on actions—remaining calm and professional when working under pressure.
