About you

We have an exciting opportunity for a Junior Garment Technologist to join our growing Tech Team at Nobody’s Child. While this role has a strong foundation in knitwear and jersey (minimum 2 years’ experience preferred), it will also work across multi-product categories including Accessories and Footwear. This role plays a key part in supporting product quality, fit, safety, and compliance across multiple markets. You will work closely with Design, Buying, Merchandising, the Warehouse QC team, and external suppliers to ensure our products are high quality, legally compliant, and safe for our customers.

Your Day-to-Day Will Include:

  • Product Development
  • Attending and supporting fit sessions with Design and Buying, confidently leading fit sessions independently where required, while also supporting Senior Technologists.
  • Reviewing products and samples, commenting on construction, fit, finish, workmanship, and legal or safety considerations.
  • Liaising with suppliers and development teams to improve fit, construction, and overall product quality from development through to production.
  • Reviewing care labelling and testing requirements and clearly communicating these to suppliers.
  • Communicating with suppliers to ensure samples are produced to required standards and assisting in resolving technical challenges alongside your Line Manager.
  • Reviewing and approving pre-production samples in line with product approval processes, ensuring approvals are completed in a timely manner with appropriate reference samples and briefs filed.
  • Collecting and updating critical path tracking documents for Technologist sections, ensuring accuracy and communicating updates to the Line Manager and wider team.
  • Determining and defining new standards as required, ensuring customer expectations and brand quality levels are consistently met.
  • Ensuring all technical specifications, test reports, product reviews, and correspondence are accurately filed to maintain traceability and demonstrate due diligence.
  • Production Resolution & Compliance
  • Demonstrating a strong understanding of garment grading.
  • Reviewing test reports against Nobody’s Child requirements, discussing results with suppliers and ensuring compliance.
  • Escalating any non-compliances to the Line Manager for decision-making.
  • Supporting administration and legislative requirements to enable growth, new markets, and regulatory compliance.
  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of current and emerging safety and legal requirements across relevant product categories.
  • Demonstrating a clear understanding of garment grading and construction principles.
  • Quality & Continuous Improvement
  • Working closely with the Warehouse QC team to ensure products are inspected appropriately.
  • Investigating rejections and customer complaints, sharing findings with the Line Manager, Buying, and Design teams where relevant.
  • Regularly reviewing make, quality, and safety standards and proactively identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Actively contribute to our company’s commitment to environmental and social responsibility by integrating sustainable practices into everyday work. This includes minimising waste, promoting responsible sourcing, supporting our circular economy initiatives, and encouraging customers and colleagues to make choices that align with our sustainability values.

What You’ll Bring

  • An appropriate degree or equivalent qualification in Garment Technology, Fashion, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in knitwear and/or jersey is preferred, with an eagerness to learn across accessories and footwear categories.
  • A clear understanding of different knit constructions and yarns.
  • Basic understanding of garment construction, manufacturing processes, materials, fabrics, testing, and product risk assessments, with a strong willingness to learn.
  • Knowledge of sustainability principles, standards, and relevant certifications.
  • Awareness of current and emerging safety, legal, and compliance requirements.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across teams and with suppliers.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage workload, prioritise tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • High level of computer literacy, particularly in Excel-based systems.
  • Experience working with the Interlink platform would be beneficial.
