This is a full-time, on-site Bench Hand Joiner / Cabinet Maker role based in Uppingham. The role involves interpreting technical drawings and specifications, setting out workpieces, and producing high-quality bespoke furniture and cabinetry. Daily tasks include cutting, assembling, and finishing timber components using both traditional hand tools and modern machinery, as well as fitting hardware and preparing items for installation. The Bench Hand Joiner / Cabinet Maker will work closely with the production team to meet project deadlines, maintain workshop standards, and ensure that all items meet Noble Russell’s quality expectations. The role may also involve occasional site work, assisting with delivery, fitting, and installation of furniture at client locations.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Carpentry, with experience in bench joinery and cabinet making for bespoke or high-end furniture.
- Proficient use of Hand Tools (e.g., chisels, planes, saws) for precise joinery and detailed craftsmanship.
- Confident use of Power Tools and workshop machinery, with an understanding of safe operating practices.
- Experience in Framing and structural assembly of furniture or fitted joinery components.
- Skilled in Finish Carpentry, including fine detailing, fitting, and preparation for finishing or installation.
- Ability to read and work from technical drawings, cutting lists, and specifications with high accuracy.
- Relevant qualification or apprenticeship in carpentry, joinery, or furniture making (or equivalent proven experience).
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and commitment to producing consistent, high-quality work.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a workshop environment, manage time effectively, and meet project deadlines.
