We are looking for a passionate Bartender who will start their journey on the path to becoming a Sommelier. The role involves organizing and dispensing wines from our 60‑bin “by the glass” menu, tasting daily, and providing warm hospitality. This is the first step in the Bartender → Sommelier → Senior Sommelier pathway at Noble Rot.
Responsibilities- Organise and dispense wines from the daily changing 60‑bin menu.
- Constantly taste and learn about the producers on our list.
- Discuss producers by name and share key points with guests.
- Deliver warm, service‑oriented hospitality and use wine knowledge as a tool.
- Motivation and passion for learning wine; knowledge of wine acceptable but not mandatory.
- Experience in restaurant service is a plus but not required.
- Good communication skills and enthusiasm for a career in wine.
- Daily training on new wines and a blind bottle tasting at the end of each day.
- Internal fine‑wine training programme (e.g., Battle for the Soul of Barolo, Bordeaux: The Story of the Noughties).
- Regular in‑house visits from winemakers and industry leaders.
- Opportunities to visit wineries across the UK (harvest, pruning, tastings).
- External wine training including WSET qualifications, Diploma, Educator Programme, and Master of Wine.
- Choose your weekly hours – options for 45 hrs (6 shifts) or 50 hrs (7 shifts) per week, with tronc inclusive.
