We have an exciting opportunity for a Service Charge Rent Officer to take a lead role in managing service charge and rent processes across a housing portfolio of 7,000+ homes, including homeowners, freeholders, estates, and garages. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate administration, compliance, and clear communication of service charges and rent applications, while working collaboratively across departments and with external managing agents.
Key Responsibilities:
- Liaise with internal departments (e.g., Housing, Asset) to gather data and ensure budgets accurately reflect service delivery costs
- Issue annual rent and service charge notifications in line with regulatory requirements and best practice
- Provide clear, transparent breakdowns of charges, including explanations for cost changes
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation (e.g., Leasehold Reform Act, Landlord Tenant Act 1985, Housing Acts)
- Manage estate-based charges, utility billing, and service charge arrangements
- Ensure all statutory obligations are met, including service charge certification and reporting
- Respond to resident queries, explaining charges clearly and professionally
