Our welcoming Client has a fantastic opportunity for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor who is looking for a fresh challenge in a fast-paced environment with excellent benefits detailed at interview stage! As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you’ll work closely with our Client's Commercial Envoy Divisional Director to support procurement and commercial administration across allocated projects. This is a full-time, office-based role (opportunity to work out a hybrid solution following onboarding) suited to someone with a sharp eye for detail, strong organisational skills, and a genuine interest in construction.
Main responsibilities:
- You’ll take ownership of key procurement processes, materials tracking, supplier coordination, budgeting assistance and cost monitoring.
- Procurement of building materials (from schedules), bracketry & metalwork (from drawings) – tendering, following up to receive quotes on time, analysing quotes, discussing with the QS, tracking against budgets, negotiating with suppliers, drafting and placing purchase orders.
- Update these packages on the procurement schedule (excel), and track and remind for upcoming releases.
- Following up suppliers to ensure lead times are maintained and delivered on.
- Maintain a materials management schedule (excel) to track materials from point of order through to confirmed arrival on site, including with locations, dates, orders, delivery notes, pallet/stillage refs, photos etc.
- Deal with reactive procurement issues e.g. missing materials, & site requests in coordination with the team.
- Coordination with project team/s throughout above.
- Assisting QS with pricing of variations – obtaining quotes from supplier etc.
- Assisting QS with monthly application and vesting processes.
- On site installation records tracking & checking.
- Budgeting exercises in advance of release of final design, and monitoring budgets.
Skills and Experience:
- High attention to detail.
- Must have experience in the construction industry – structural, façades, cladding industries.
- Organised, diligent and with good sense of initiative / A good listener and a clear communicator.
- Team player with the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Excellent negotiation and dispute resolution skills.
- Good financial and numeracy management skills.
- High level of IT literacy.
- Driver & own transport is required due to the location of this Client.
