Noble Recruiting are working with a business in Basildon to recruit an experienced Import Customs Coordinator. This role would suit someone with 1 to 3 years’ experience within customs, imports or customs compliance, with hands-on experience raising import declarations using the Customs Declaration Service, CDS.
Key responsibilities:
- Complete customs import, export and cross-trade activities accurately and on time
- Raise customs declarations using CDS in line with HMRC requirements
- Ensure import duties and VAT are correctly applied and invoiced
- Support customs compliance across financial, legal and invoicing processes
- Report amendments to customs declarations to the management team
- Carry out ad hoc checks on customer entries and provide weekly reports
- Maintain customs platforms and operational systems accurately
- Provide regular updates to customers, internal teams and line management
- Follow up outstanding customer payments with the Credit Control team
- Ensure quotations are sent to the Sales team within required timescales
- Identify opportunities to improve customer workflows
- Apply insurance charges correctly and elevate any claims when needed
Experience required:
- 1 to 3 years’ experience within customs, imports or customs compliance
- Experience raising import declarations using CDS
- Good understanding of UK customs compliance and HMRC regulations
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Confident working with customs platforms and operational systems
- Good communication skills with customers and internal teams
- Organised, reliable and able to work to deadlines
