Responsibilities
- Procurement of building materials (from schedules), bracketry & metalwork (from drawings) β tendering, following up to receive quotes on time, analysing quotes, discussing with the QS, tracking against budgets, negotiating with suppliers, drafting and placing purchase orders.
- Update these packages on the procurement schedule (excel), and track and remind for upcoming releases.
- Following up suppliers to ensure lead times are maintained and delivered on.
- Maintain a materials management schedule (excel) to track materials from point of order through to confirmed arrival on site, including with locations, dates, orders, delivery notes, pallet/stillage refs, photos etc.
- Deal with reactive procurement issues e.g. missing materials, & site requests in coordination with the team.
- Coordination with project team/s throughout above.
- Assisting QS with pricing of variations β obtaining quotes from supplier etc.
- Assisting QS with monthly application and vesting processes.
- Budgeting exercises in advance of release of final design, and monitoring budgets.
Skills and experience
- High attention to detail.
- Some experience in construction industry β ideally at least a year experience in a similar role.
- Organised, diligent and with good sense of initiative.
- Open & honest.
- A good listener and a clear communicator.
- Team player with the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Excellent negotiation and dispute resolution skills.
- Good financial and numeracy management skills.
- High level of IT literacy.
- Driver & own transport is required due to the location of this Client.
