We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Engineering Team Leader to support our operations at the Added Value site in Leicester.

Shift Pattern : Sunday - Thursday, Nights - 2200:06:00

Key Responsibilities

  • Follow the company Health & Safety guidelines as outlined above
  • Organise and manage the day to activities of a team of engineers whilst on shift.
  • Take ownership of daily and future Planned Preventative Maintenance tasks ensuring maximum completion and compliance.
  • Ensure members of your team are up to date with any outstanding training signoffs.
  • Plan shift resource to ensure sufficient cover is maintained through holiday / absence management.
  • Work with the Engineering Manager to achieve Engineering excellence through implementation of good practices and execution of best practices.
  • Respond promptly to breakdowns and give feedback to production regarding expected downtime and planned corrective actions
  • Work with production team at all levels to guide and train staff to identify potential improvements to OEE, breakdown reduction and improvement of machine standards and operation.
  • Work with the engineering team to test, install and commission new equipment prior to 'go live' times
  • Work closely with the fellow engineers and the production team to develop a dynamic and positive attitude to the challenges of a busy production department
  • Focus on the key performance indicators (KPIs) identified by the Engineering Manager, and work towards achieving and surpassing agreed targets
  • Ensure that all necessary documentation completed in full and on time.
  • Attend team huddles or site meetings as requested identifying risks to the operation or personnel, areas of improvement in GMP or OEE.
  • Complete any necessary training required for the role.

The jobholder should be open to personal development.

This will include becoming super users on all automation, Metal detection and check weighing systems

  • Identify areas of inefficiency and waste. In agreement with the Engineering Manager, implement and review the agreed changes
  • Ensure all user training courses provided by the company are attended in full as required by the engineering lead, engineering manager, or packing center manager.
  • These may be in-house or externally provided
  • Complete IOSH working & managing safely and support in completing risk assessments in the department and for machinery and best practices
  • Complete Level 3 food hygiene in manufacturing.
  • The site is committed to being audit-ready at all times.

Therefore, it is imperative that site hygiene, health & safety, and document control are always all in line with customer specifications

  • Maintain a respectful and constructive working relationship with colleagues, subordinates, and managers

Skills & Qualifications

  • Multi-skilled in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering (City & Guilds/NVQ Level 3 or above).
  • Recognized apprenticeship in a manufacturing environment is advantageous.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in an automated production facility; food/Brewery/FMCG experience preferred.
  • Previous team management experience is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and self-motivation skills required.

The role may involve manual handling and working in confined spaces. A reasonable level of fitness is required.
