About the role

You will maintain high standards of hygiene and cleanliness across the manufacturing site, ensuring equipment, production areas, and facilities are cleaned safely, effectively, and in line with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements. The role supports the safe production of products and contributes to a clean, organised, and compliant workplace.

Key Accountabilities of the role:

  • Follow all site health and safety policy and procedures, including PPE, chemical handling, equipment lock‑off/tag‑out, and safe systems of work.
  • Report hazards, incidents or injuries to the Supervisor or Manager.
  • Use machinery such as scrubber‑dryers, vacuums, pressure washers, or steam cleaners where required.
  • Immediately escape any unsafe practices or near‑miss incidents.
  • Carry out scheduled and ad‑hoc cleaning of production lines, equipment, floors, walls, and workspaces.
  • Perform deep cleans during shutdowns or changeovers using appropriate tools, chemicals, and methods.
  • Ensure all cleaning tasks follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Safely dismantle equipment (where authorised) to allow thorough cleaning.
  • Use cleaning chemicals responsibly and in accordance with COSHH requirements.
  • Maintain hygiene standards to meet internal audits, customer audits, and regulatory requirements (e.g., BRCGS, ISO, HSE guidelines).
  • Complete hygiene checklists and cleaning records accurately and on time.
  • Report hazards, defects, or pest activity promptly.
  • Work collaboratively with production, engineering, and quality teams during shift handovers and line changeovers.
  • Communicate issues that impact cleanliness, food/product safety, or equipment performance.
