Production Team Leader to join our team in Leicester.

About the Role

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced production professional with leadership experience to play a key role in a busy food manufacturing environment.

Reporting to the Production Manager, you'll lead and motivate your team to deliver production targets while maintaining the highest standards of quality, food safety, and health & safety.

You'll be a visible presence on the shop floor, driving performance, supporting continuous improvement, and ensuring our products meet the standards our customers expect.

  • What You'll Be Doing

As Production Team Leader, you will

  • Ensure the Health & Safety of yourself and the team at all times
  • Lead, coach and support production teams to achieve daily production plans and targets.
  • Work closely with the Production Manager to deliver efficient production schedules and resolve operational issues.
  • Monitor production processes, equipment performance and product quality.
  • Take ownership of key performance indicators including quality, productivity and service levels.
  • Manage attendance, performance, training and day-to-day people matters.
  • Ensure production records and documentation are completed accurately.
  • Carry out production sampling, monitoring and data recording in line with audit requirements.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce waste and drive continuous improvement.
  • Communicate effectively across departments and shift teams.
  • Support team development through coaching and on-the-job training.
  • Provide support across different production areas when required.
  • Health, Safety & Food Safety

  • Promoting a strong Health & Safety culture.
  • Following and enforcing HACCP, GMP and food safety procedures.
  • Maintaining high housekeeping standards through a clean-as-you-go approach.
  • Keeping walkways and emergency exits clear.
  • Reporting accidents, near misses and equipment issues promptly.
  • Ensuring equipment is safe, maintained and fit for use.
  • Supporting site audit readiness through excellent hygiene and documentation standards.
  • Additional Responsibilities

You'll also

  • Manage stock control and complete weekly reporting.
  • Provide operational cover across High Care, Low Care and Despatch when required.
  • Support the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and work instructions.
  • Carry out GMP inspections and implement corrective actions.
  • Lead monthly production briefings and monitor follow-up actions.
  • Plan ahead, communicate proactively and resolve issues before they impact production.

About You

We're looking for someone who has

  • Previous experience within a food manufacturing or production environment.
  • Experience in a Team Leader or Supervisory role.
  • A good understanding of Health & Safety, HACCP and food hygiene standards.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • The ability to prioritise workloads and perform well in a fast-paced environment.
  • A positive, flexible and hands-on approach to work.
  • A passion for continuous improvement and developing people.
