The General Manager - Business Development – Healthcare is a pivotal commercial role tasked with establishing and growing the healthcare vertical within Noatum Logistics UK business. The position will drive the strategic development of new business opportunities by targeting healthcare clients for air, ocean, and road freight services across import and export trade lanes.

Acting as the subject matter expert, the General Manager will collaborate with the Business Development Director and the wider commercial team to enhance operational and commercial foundations, ensuring Noatum Logistics becomes a trusted partner for healthcare organizations in the UK. The role combines business development expertise with industry specific knowledge to deliver sustainable growth and exceptional client satisfaction.

Support the overall growth strategy for Noatum Logistics products around healthcare customer qualification process and new business opportunities as well as ensuring that the opportunity is the right fit to unlock a winning strategy. Own an aligned strategic commercial approach in the healthcare vertical to develop several major opportunities which may require the definition and development of capabilities and services with Product teams and need a longer sales cycle or RFQ response to bring to fruition.

Agree and take ownership of the overall vertical target account list for UK with the support of the Business Development Director and continue to develop this over time in conjunction with the UK commercial team. This will likely include the presentation of business cases to support capital investment from the UK and Global leadership teams.

These experts may include sales and business development teams, account management, product and project teams as well as multi modal operational teams and close collaboration with colleagues internationally. This means supporting and challenging our business to guarantee our proposals are industry leading (and operationally deliverable).

This position is accountable in ensuring all customer engagements are tailored, compelling and clearly show we understand the customers’ needs and can offer a sustainable service solution as well as understand industry / category trends, and other factors which may influence the customers’ business.

The role supports Noatum Logistics technology and Digital Transformation services required for all business units (Sea, Air and Road) with physical controlled movements as part of agreements. Engage and work with other Noatum Logistics Healthcare groups Globally to share our best practices and to learn from other techniques that can enhance our own proposition.

Partner with the Senior UK Leadership Team to continually innovate, create new solutions and inform the Healthcare strategy so it remains customer compelling and able to deliver the volume / financial growth targets required by the business.

Develop comprehensive business handover documents detailing the client business, the solution, and agreed commercials. Participate in the initial implementation meetings as required and support any commercial agenda items.

Maintain professional and technical knowledge by participating in local trade, professional and network associations as a representative of the company. Achieve and maintain the data integrity of assigned accounts in the CRM according to the established processes, which include updating calendars, pipeline data, customer profile information, incorporating market intelligence.

Establish and build intense face to face visibility with key target customers. Building relationship, Customer Service/Problem Resolution, Rates, Contract negotiations, Account retention and Representation. Leverage Noatum Logistics service network and capabilities to optimize customer wins.

In depth experience in business development, sales or commercial leadership roles and experience focused on the healthcare or life sciences sector. Active network and contacts within the Healthcare sector and communities.

Ability to communicate, build internal and external networks, and influence at all levels of the organization, and with customers. Strong commercial acumen and financial management abilities. Positive change agent in the business, committed to constantly evolving service propositions, profitable growth, and cost reduction.

Good understanding of supply chain visibility applications and solutions and how they can quantify and leverage value, service, or risk management. Ability to define entrepreneurial business solutions to identify new opportunities and generate non-freight revenue and add value to our customers.

Must be able to travel nationally and internationally where required. Strong relationship building skills and exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Strong project management, budget management, organisational, and planning skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously to meet project deadlines in a fast-paced environment, are mandatory. Excellent capabilities in MS Office applications including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
