Specialist Carer - Band 4 (part-time) in London

This role is ideal for someone with experience as a Healthcare Assistant looking to step into a specialist level position. As a Band 4 Specialist Carer you will be a senior carer within Noah's Ark Children's Hospice, working in both our state‐of‐the‐art building, The Ark, and in the community.

Responsibilities

• Provide life‐changing care for babies, children and young people with life‐limiting or life‐threatening conditions, working closely with families, multidisciplinary teams and your colleagues.
• Place the experience of children and families at the heart of all care activities, understanding their clinical needs and personal preferences.
• Support children and families to experience what they may have thought impossible, focusing on what children can do rather than their limitations.
• Allow parents and caregivers time to take care of themselves by providing essential care hours, helping them live life outside of their child's condition.
• Actively lead care‐planning reviews, projects and meetings, and pass on your skills and experience to junior colleagues through support and training.
• Deliver end‐of‐life care with compassion, working with healthcare professionals to maximise comfort and dignity.

Person Specification

Qualifications

• Minimum of GCSE grade C in English and Maths (or equivalent).
• QCF/NVQ Level 2 or 3 in health/health and social care (or equivalent) or care certificate.

Skills, Knowledge & Experience

• At least 2 years of experience caring for babies, children and young people with life‐threatening and life‐limiting conditions, including those with special needs.
• Experience of providing play and enjoyable activities for children.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Good organisational skills and ability to manage own caseload.
• Evidence of supporting or teaching junior colleagues.
• Experience leading meetings, projects, link‐role responsibilities and care‐plan reviews.

Miscellaneous Requirements

• Enhanced DBS with Child & Adult Barring.
• Willingness to undergo Occupational Health assessment and receive immunisations where applicable.
• Full UK driver's licence.
• Evidence of right to work in the UK.
