Childrens Hospice Nurse Band 6 (Equiv. to Grade 4) in London

As a member of the Noah’s Ark Nurse and Specialist Care team, you’ll be encouraged to put the experience of children and families at the heart of everything you do. You’ll focus on what children can do, rather than their limitations, and will support them to experience things they may never have thought possible. By providing care for children at The Ark or in the community, you’ll enable parents and carers to take time for themselves and allow families to live life outside their child’s condition. You’ll join a 24/7, on‑call symptom assessment/management service for babies, children and young people, and support the children through end‑of‑life care, providing comfort and respecting choice of place of care and death.

Main duties of the job

• You will deliver high quality symptom management, lead and train a multi‑skilled nursing team, and provide direct line management to Band 5 nurses and Band 3/4 specialist carers.
• You will work autonomously in the community, collaborate with healthcare professionals and families, and apply creativity and play as core components of care.
• Your leadership will promote a culture of kindness, excellence and courage, enabling children to play, explore, express themselves and build confidence.

About you

• At least one year of experience caring for children with complex needs.
• Either a Band 5 nurse with palliative care experience or a Band 6 nurse already working in palliative care.
• Experience managing a nursing team or supporting junior staff and support workers.
• Demonstrable collaborative and multi‑skill team leadership, including training and mentoring.
• Excellent clinical, communication and autonomous working skills.
