Childrens Hospice Nurses - Band 6 (part-time)

This will be perfect for you if you are looking for a part‑time role – minimum of 22.5 hours (including weekends). With excellent clinical and communication skills you may be an experienced Band 5 Nurse with palliative care experience, ready to step up, or a Band 6 Nurse already working in the palliative care sector having previous experience caring for children with complex needs. You should have at least one year of experience caring for children with complex care needs and experience managing a nursing team or supporting students, junior staff nurses or support workers. You should be able to work collaboratively, lead a multi‑skilled team, and demonstrate leadership with or without the support of a lead nurse. Main duties of the job:

• As a member of the Noah’s Ark Nurse and Specialist Care team you will focus on the experience of children and families, understanding what is important to each child and ensuring their needs are met.
• You will provide 24/7 on‑call symptom assessment/management for babies, children and young people in the Ark and in the community, and deliver essential end‑of‑life care with the aim of comfort and choice of preferred place of care or death.
• You will work autonomously in the community, collaborate closely with NHS Trusts and other providers, and help families find time for themselves by offering consistent, high‑quality care.
• You will also deliver training and direct line management support to Band 5 Nurses and Band 3 & 4 Specialist Carers.

About you:

• Strong communication, excellent clinical skills, management experience, and leadership ability are essential.
• You must have: Registered Nurse in Children (RN) or similar; Band 5 experience in palliative care.
• Teaching or mentorship experience (mentorship SSSA or equivalent).
• Ability to plan and deliver clinical training for registered and non‑registered colleagues.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills across professional and family settings.
• Capacity to work independently, autonomously, and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Strong organisational, planning and time‑management skills with adaptability to short‑notice changes.
• Positive, proactive, enthusiastic, flexible, innovative and creative outlook.
• Commitment to our values of kindness, courage and excellence.
• Willingness to undergo immunisation checks and provide evidence of right to work in the UK.
• Full UK driving licence.
