Department: Personal Injury Department – Travel Litigation

Salary: £16K to £25K + Bonuses

We are looking to recruit a Fee Earner to join our Personal Injury department in dealing with a caseload of holiday sickness claims. Training Contract will be issued to the ideal candidate within 12 to 18 months of a satisfactory performance. Remuneration package will include a profit share derived from the department's profit costs. The ideal candidate will bring in their wealth of experience and technical know-how to assist in the development of a growing department focused on dealing with Holiday Claims. This is a great opportunity for an experienced Fee Earner to enter into a growing firm and have day-to-day contact with senior management in a growing department. The experienced candidate will, in addition to developing and assisting in managing the department, be provided a caseload to conduct.

Requirements:

  • At minimum 3 – 6 months experience dealing with Holiday Illness matters
  • At minimum 3 – 6 months experience dealing with Fast Track and Multi-track matters (desirable but not essential)
  • Ability to effectively manage own caseload with a track record of settling files (desirable but not essential)
  • Possess excellent negotiation skills (desirable but not essential)
  • Ability to work with and achieve income targets on a consistent basis
  • Ability to work to strict deadlines
  • Ability to manage and lead a team of Fee Earners (desirable but not essential)
  • Ability to assist with the day-to-day running of the practice (desirable but not essential)
  • Good working knowledge of essential computer applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Have an ability to plan and prioritise own workload
  • Ability to work from own Task List via our internal management system
  • Good people skills for teamwork and building relationships with co-workers and clients
  • Good written and spoken communication skills are essential

Key Responsibilities:

  • To handle a caseload of travel cases from beginning to end, focusing on illness claims, with work funded on a CFA and BTE basis
  • Ensuring cases are settled profitably
  • Undertaking risk-assessments and deal with enquiries where required
  • Maintaining high standards in the processing of client work, both in respect of professional standards and client care
  • Maintaining good professional working relationships with external institutions and organisations
  • Promoting and participating in marketing activities whether on a firm-wide, departmental or office basis
  • Ensuring the confidentiality and security of all firm and client documentation and information
  • Possess good knowledge and experience of Travel and Holiday Law, including procedural and practical skills (desirable but not essential)
