We're looking for a versatile and experienced Construction Co-ordinator who can manage their own construction works at the Preston facility, ensuring all construction work undertaken on their construction areas are safe, fully compliant with site requirements and CDM regulations.

Main Responsibilities
  • The key area of accountability is to ensure the safe delivery of construction activities on your assigned construction area at the Preston Laboratory meeting the project requirements for cost, time and quality.
  • Supporting the Senior Construction Coordinator by delivering assigned construction projects.
  • Ensuring projects comply with the requirements of the CDM regulations and that Construction Phase Plans are in place.
  • Managing the work of contractors in your construction areas, ensuring that all the required documentation is in place prior to work commencing.
  • Ensuring all specified construction and installation standards are met (Surveillance and inspection).
  • Ensuring site safety and safe working practices are adhered to and promote a positive health and safety culture.
  • Ensuring that all construction activities comply with UKNNL and UK legal requirements, including Nuclear Site License Conditions.
  • Monitoring construction safety performance and delivering construction improvement projects.
  • Working with the design teams to ensure construction is considered during the design process.
  • The production of construction method statements and risk assessments.
  • Supporting the Senior Construction Coordinator producing construction estimates.
Essential Criteria
  • Equivalent experience can be offered in lieu if it is deemed appropriate by the UKNNL Construction Manager.
  • HNC/ONC or equivalent in an engineering, electrical or construction discipline. Preferably from a trade background.
  • Experience working on construction projects in a supervisory position, with experience in multi discipline contractor management and an understanding of the CDM 2015 regulations.
  • Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be a self-starter, able to take responsibility and work with minimum supervision, at times under pressure with excellent organisational skills; be able to multitask and re-prioritise to meet changing needs and project deadlines in a team environment.
  • Ability to obtain SC level security clearance (this includes but is not limited to identity, employment, financial and criminal record checks plus 5 years’ worth of UK residency).
Desirable Criteria
  • NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate.
  • Experience of managing construction work on a nuclear licenced site.
  • Membership of a relevant professional body.

The salary range for this position is £51,166 to £53,072 (Grade 4B).
