NMS Recruit are working with an established and growing main contractor with a strong reputation across the hotel, leisure, refurbishment and heritage sectors.

Due to continued project wins and an expanding pipeline of work, they are looking to appoint an experienced Construction Manager to join their team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on construction professional who enjoys working on complex projects and wants exposure to a varied portfolio of hotel refurbishments, new-build developments, extensions and heritage works.

The Role

As Construction Manager, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day delivery of projects, working closely with the Project Manager, subcontractors, consultants and client teams.

Projects will include refurbishment and construction within live operational environments, so strong planning, communication and stakeholder management skills will be essential.

Responsibilities

  • Managing day-to-day construction activities on site.
  • Coordinating subcontractors, suppliers and site teams.
  • Managing programme, sequencing and site logistics.
  • Ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
  • Managing construction quality and ensuring specifications are met.
  • Coordinating multiple trades and work packages.
  • Working closely with the commercial and project management teams.
  • Managing interfaces between existing buildings and new construction.
  • Maintaining strong relationships with clients, consultants and stakeholders.
  • Managing snagging, completion and handover.
  • Identifying and resolving construction issues proactively.

The role would suit someone who enjoys variety and is comfortable dealing with the challenges that come with working in existing buildings and occupied sites.

About You

We are looking for an experienced Construction Manager / Senior Site Manager / Site Manager with a main contracting background.

You will ideally have

  • Proven experience delivering construction projects from start through to completion.
  • Main contractor experience.
  • Experience within hotel, leisure, commercial refurbishment or similar sectors.
  • Strong subcontractor and site team management skills.
  • Good understanding of construction programmes and sequencing.
  • Strong health & safety awareness.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • A proactive approach to problem solving.
  • Relevant CSCS and SMSTS qualifications.
  • Experience of live hotel environments, refurbishment, heritage or listed buildings would be particularly advantageous.
