NMS Recruit are seeking an experience Fire Alarm Engineer to work across live healthcare, mental health, commercial and other occupied environments, including inpatient and secure settings. Engineers must therefore be comfortable working professionally and respectfully around patients, clinical staff, visitors, customers and other contractors. You will be responsible for ensuring fire alarm systems are installed, maintained, tested and repaired to the required standards, whilst providing a high level of customer service and ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently and with appropriate documentation. Responsibilities Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and routine servicing of fire alarm systems. Attend reactive maintenance and emergency breakdowns and diagnose faults efficiently. Carry out fault finding, repairs and component replacement on fire alarm systems. Undertake testing and inspection in accordance with relevant legislation, standards and manufacturer requirements. Complete fire alarm testing, servicing and maintenance documentation accurately. Identify defects, remedial requirements and potential compliance issues and report these appropriately. Carry out installation, modification and commissioning works where required. Work with a range of fire alarm systems and manufacturers. Liaise professionally with clients, site teams, clinical staff and other contractors. Provide clear explanations of faults, remedial requirements and completed works where required. Ensure all works are completed in accordance with company procedures, risk assessments and method statements. Maintain accurate records through the company's CAFM/job management system. Complete engineer reports and provide appropriate photographic evidence where required. Ensure tools, equipment and company vehicles are maintained appropriately. Work collaboratively with other engineers and Facilities Management teams where works involve multiple disciplines. Participate in the company's on-call/24-hour emergency response rota where required. Maintain a professional approach when working in sensitive or challenging environments. Identify opportunities for additional remedial works and communicate these to the relevant manager. Promote a positive health and safety culture and report any unsafe conditions or concerns. Essential Skills & Experience • Previous experience working as a Fire Alarm Engineer. • Strong knowledge of fire alarm systems, fault finding and maintenance. • Experience carrying out PPM, reactive maintenance and repairs. • Ability to diagnose faults and work independently. • Good understanding of relevant fire alarm standards and legislation. • Good written and verbal communication skills. • Ability to complete accurate service reports and electronic job records. • Full UK driving licence. • Ability to work flexibly across multiple client sites. • Professional and customer-focused approach. • Comfortable working within occupied and sensitive environments. Must be able to undergo a full enhanced DBS Check Qualifications • FIA or equivalent recognised fire alarm qualifications. • Relevant electrical/fire alarm training. • Manufacturer-specific training where applicable. • Relevant BS 5839 knowledge and experience. Additional electrical qualifications or experience would be advantageous. Desirable Experience Experience working within Facilities Management, healthcare, NHS, mental health or other highly regulated environments would be beneficial. Experience with a variety of fire alarm manufacturers and systems would also be advantageous.
