Are you an experienced Workshop Supervisor or a senior PCV Engineer ready to take the next step in your career? We're looking for a hands-on leader to oversee the day-to-day running of a busy engineering workshop, ensuring vehicles are maintained to the highest standards while developing and motivating a skilled engineering team.

£23.50p/h 45 hours per week - 1:30pm - 10:30pm - Mon - Friday - £54,990 Annually

The Role

As Workshop Supervisor, you'll work closely with the Workshop Manager to ensure the smooth operation of the workshop, maximising vehicle availability while maintaining the highest standards of safety, compliance and quality. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supervising the servicing, maintenance and repair of the fleet.
  • Planning and allocating daily workloads across the engineering team.
  • Managing vehicle availability to support operational requirements.
  • Supporting daily run-in, run-out and breakdown activities.
  • Carrying out vehicle preparation and body repairs where required.
  • Maintaining workshop equipment, depot facilities and engineering plant.
  • Assisting with stock control and warranty administration.
  • Ensuring engineering records and compliance documentation are completed accurately.
  • Delivering effective shift handovers and maintaining excellent communication across teams.
  • Coaching, mentoring and developing engineers and apprentices.
  • Conducting investigations and supporting performance management where required.
  • Working closely with operational colleagues to improve service delivery and minimise downtime.
  • Promoting a strong Health & Safety culture and ensuring compliance with all legislation and company procedures.

Essential

  • Level 3 HGV Engineering qualification (City & Guilds, NVQ or equivalent).
  • PCV Licence.
  • Previous experience in a supervisory or team leadership role within a commercial vehicle workshop.
  • Strong engineering knowledge with excellent diagnostic understanding.
  • Confident leadership and people management skills.
  • Excellent communication and organisational abilities.
  • Good understanding of Health & Safety, environmental and employment legislation.
  • Competent IT skills.
  • A professional, proactive approach with the confidence to make decisions.

Working Hours

  • 45 hours per week
  • Monday to Friday
  • Flexibility to support weekends, bank holidays and occasional out-of-hours cover when operationally required.
