You will be responsible for maintaining and repairing a varied range of heavy commercial vehicles, ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently and to the highest possible standard. This role would suit a qualified technician who takes pride in their workmanship and enjoys working as part of a skilled and supportive team.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out routine servicing, maintenance and repairs on HGVs and commercial vehicles
- Complete scheduled inspections and preventative maintenance in line with DVSA requirements
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical and electronic faults using appropriate diagnostic equipment
- Repair and replace components including brakes, steering, suspension, transmissions and electrical systems
- Prepare vehicles for MOT and ensure they meet all required roadworthiness standards
- Attend vehicle breakdowns when required
- Accurately complete job cards, inspection sheets and compliance documentation
- Identify additional defects and report any required repairs
- Ensure work is completed efficiently while maintaining excellent quality and safety standards
- Keep tools, equipment and the workshop clean, organised and properly maintained
Skills and Experience
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- Previous experience working as an HGV Technician, HGV Mechanic, Commercial Vehicle Technician or Heavy Vehicle Technician
- A recognised Level 3 qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair, or equivalent experience
- Strong mechanical, electrical and diagnostic skills
- Good knowledge of DVSA inspection and maintenance requirements
- The ability to work independently and as part of a workshop team
- A reliable, organised and safety-focused approach
- A full UK driving licence
- An HGV licence would be advantageous but is not essential
