About the Job

We are seeking an experienced HR Generalist to join our team and support our global workforce across multiple jurisdictions including the US, Canada, UK, South Africa and Australia. This role requires a strategic thinker with hands-on experience in employee relations, culture initiatives, and benefits administration. The successful candidate will serve as a trusted business partner to department heads while ensuring consistent People practices across all locations.

As a remote-first company, we embrace flexible working arrangements and are looking for someone based on the East Coast timezone in the US (Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Michigan, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia) . This position will provide optimal coverage and collaboration across all our global locations, ensuring seamless support for our teams in the UK, South Africa, Canada and throughout the United States.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

Employee Relations

  • Own and manage employee relations processes globally across the US, Canada, UK, and South Africa
  • Handle complex employee issues, investigations, and disciplinary matters in compliance with local employment laws
  • Provide guidance and coaching to managers on performance management, workplace conflicts, and policy interpretation
  • Maintain accurate documentation and ensure consistent application of People policies across all jurisdictions

Culture & Engagement

  • Organize and execute company-wide culture activities, including our annual NMI Cares volunteering week across multiple locations
  • Develop and implement employee engagement initiatives that strengthen our company culture
  • Plan and coordinate team building events, recognition programs, and wellness initiatives
  • Measure and report on employee engagement metrics and culture initiatives

Performance Management

  • Support and facilitate performance review processes, ensuring consistency and fairness across all locations
  • Partner with managers to establish performance improvement plans and development opportunities
  • Provide training and guidance to supervisors on effective performance management techniques
  • Maintain performance management systems and documentation

Benefits Administration

  • Manage comprehensive benefits administration with particular expertise in US open enrollment processes
  • Coordinate benefits across multiple countries, ensuring compliance with local requirements
  • Serve as primary point of contact for employees regarding benefits questions and issues
  • Partner with benefits vendors and brokers to optimize program offerings and costs
  • Maintain benefits data integrity and produce regular reporting on utilization and costs

Business Partnership

  • Collaborate closely with department heads to understand business needs and provide strategic HR support
  • Advise leadership on organizational development, workforce planning, and talent management strategies
  • Participate in special projects and initiatives that support business objectives

Essential Requirements

  • 5+ years of progressive HR experience, with specific expertise in employee relations and benefits administration
  • Demonstrated experience managing HR processes across multiple countries, particularly US, Canada as well as the UK and/or South Africa
  • Strong knowledge of employment law and regulations in multiple jurisdictions
  • Experience with US benefits administration including open enrollment processes
  • Proven track record in organizing culture and engagement initiatives
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with ability to build relationships at all organizational levels
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Team player with ability to carry projects with minimal supervision
  • High sense of urgency and excellent attention to detail

Preferred Requirements

Professional HR certification (SHRM or equivalent)
