Our Client is looking for a hands-on Test Engineer to plan, run, document and maintain product testing. You will work with test equipment, product test samples, prototypes and returned products across R&D, standards-based compliance support, product development, quality investigations, customer returns, ECRs, improvements and proof-of-concept work. This role suits someone who can turn supplied requirements into practical test plans, keep evidence clear, and feed findings back to design, technical and quality teams.
What you will do:
- Product Testing and Test Facility
- Plan and run testing against agreed project, compliance, quality, ECR, return, improvement or proof-of-concept aims.
- Prepare, identify and control samples, prototypes, returns and modified products before, during and after testing.
- Maintain sample status, configuration, revision, issue and investigation links in the test evidence.
- Plan, run and maintain test equipment, fixtures, tools and supporting test set-ups.
- Complete pre-use checks, safe set-up, basic maintenance, housekeeping and issue escalation.
- Review supplied ISO, BS EN, internal or project requirements and convert them into practical test plans.
- Run R&D, development, compliance-support, validation, verification and comparison tests using agreed methods.
- Record set-ups, sample details, values, observations, failures, deviations, limits and conclusions clearly.
- Prepare reports, STRs, tables, graphs, photographs, videos and supporting records for review.
- Update testing workload, priorities, risks, delays, open issues and completed work.
- Test quality concerns, customer returns, field feedback, ECRs, improvements and proposed changes.
- Feed findings back to design on assembly, function, durability, safety, usability and testability.
- Support prototype assembly, first-off checks and proof-of-concept work where required.
- Health, safety and workplace improvements
- Help keep test and R&D areas safe, tidy and suitable for the work being carried out.
- Raise hazards, unsafe conditions, near misses, equipment faults and improvement ideas for review and action.
- Support practical improvements to fixtures, layouts, storage, handling methods and work instructions.

- Support Repose user manuals, intended-use wording, instructions for use (IFU) and internal technical documents.
- Review documentation against supplied standards, test evidence and known product information; flag gaps.
- Capture and organize photos, videos and technical notes for testing, service, training, quality and documents.
- Read drawings to support prototype assembly, test planning, set-up and design/testing review.
- Carry out CAD support for product development, test fixtures, test-area and R&D-area improvements where trained and authorized.
- Support launch documentation, release evidence, meeting actions, ECR communication and technical data collation.
- Working relationships
- Work with design, technical and quality teams to plan tests, review findings and support decisions.
- Communicate test plans, status, risks, issues and findings in project reviews and workload updates.
- Support wider business communication where test evidence, documentation or development input is needed.

Education and experience:
- HNC-level engineering qualification or equivalent relevant engineering, product-testing or technical experience.
- Relevant product, mechanical, furniture/chair, R&D, compliance or development testing experience.
- Experience testing to ISO, BS EN or equivalent technical standards, or transferable standards-based testing experience.
- Able to read technical drawings and relate design information to testing, assembly, function and compliance.
- Competent with Word, Excel and PowerPoint for records, reports, graphs, documentation and updates.
- CAD, product documentation, ECR, launch documentation or compliance evidence experience desirable.
