This is one of four new Teaching Fellow positions within the Faculty of Engineering. This particular position provides an excellent opportunity to undertake teaching in a broad range of subjects at level 1 and level 2 of the undergraduate degree programmes within the School of Computing. These subjects include: procedural programming (C and Java), computer processors and architecture, fundamental mathematics for computer science, databases, and professional issues including group work and essential systems skills. You will work closely with colleagues to develop and deliver teaching materials and assessments in support of joint academic programmes with South West Jiaotong University in China, and the academic programme delivered at Leeds.
The Teaching Fellow will be part of the UoL “flying faculty” staff, delivering the teaching in China in short intensive blocks, which means that post-holders will be expected to spend some of the year (typically 4 to 6 weeks in a calendar year) in Chengdu, working at the Joint School. The majority of time however will be based at the University of Leeds, in supporting/covering academic colleagues whilst they are overseas teaching.

Qualifications:
With post degree-level experience in computing, in the form of a PhD in a Computing discipline, or equivalent relevant practical experience in industry or higher education, you will have experience of teaching Computing Science and in a Higher Education setting. In addition to being able to demonstrate enthusiastic and effective teaching skills and a range of delivery techniques and assessment methods, you will demonstrate excellent team working skills with an ability to work in a cross-cultural team, and possess excellent communication skills.
