In this role you will be joining a team of technical professionals supporting a large-scale z/OS systems platform. This position requires an experienced systems programmer with at least 3 years of experience supporting the z/OS Mainframe Network environment. Responsibilities include configuring and maintaining the integrity and data/IP security of the Mainframe's host communication subsystems and associated program products.
Your responsibilities will include
- Being part of a multi-functional team, supporting IBM mainframe networks and transmissions products and infrastructure.
- Participation in support rota providing 24x7 cover.
- Perform TCPIP Port Reserves (Additions, Deletions, Changes) Perform VTAM updates
- Manage OSA Adapters in a complex mainframe environment
- Perform VTAM PU/LU updates (Additions, Deletions, Changes) including Enterprise
- Implement AT-TLS rules (digital certificate management). Configure and manage IPSEC
- Trace, Debug and Error Analysis
- Communicate regularly with technical, applications and operational staff to ensure Network connectivity and security (may involve some after hours and weekend work)
- (Additions, Deletions, Changes) policies (permit/deny rules, VPN- ipsec tunnels)
- The ideal candidate for this role will have the below experience and qualifications:
- Experience in administering file transmissions products such as Connect: Direct and FTP, or alternatively good experience as a user of these products.
- Knowledge of z/OS and z/OS utilities.
- Understanding of z/OS networking services, structure and related software and protocols.
- Understanding of network security disciplines (IPSec, TLS/SSL, certificates, etc) and how they relate to file transmission.
- Experience of problem management from initial diagnosis through to resolution.
- Understanding of the Change Management process.
- Ability to customize and manage secure SNA and TCP/IP networks under z/OS.
- Knowledge of mainframe network management tools, e. g. Net Master, and multi-session manager products such as TUBES and Supersession.
- Experience of managing mainframe printing products.
- General z/OS systems programming experience.
- Knowledge of System z hardware including the OSA-Express network cards.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Good communication, teamwork and negotiation skills
- Familiarity with the Cisco Network Solutions
- The ability to work to tight deadlines under pressure
- Good organisational skills
