About NLA

NLA is London’s built environment community, bringing together public and private sector leaders to shape a better city. Through research, events, festivals and year-round programmes, we convene the people delivering London’s future and provide a platform for ideas, debate and collaboration. As NLA continues to grow its influence, we are looking for a PR & Campaigns Manager to strengthen our external voice, expand our reach, and ensure our work lands with the audiences that matter.

About the role

This is a hands-on role for a proactive PR and campaigns professional who can turn NLA’s programme and research into clear, compelling stories that land with media, industry and wider audiences. You will work closely with the Marketing & Communications team to deliver integrated campaigns, with a particular focus on earned media, narrative development and external visibility.

Key responsibilities

  • PR & Media

  • Campaigns & Storytelling
    • Work in partnership with the Marketing & Communications Manager to deliver campaigns for major NLA outputs, including research launches and flagship programmes.
    • Shape the external narrative and press angles for campaigns, ensuring they resonate beyond NLA’s existing audiences.
    • Translate complex built environment and policy topics into clear, engaging stories for wider audiences.
    • Contribute to integrated campaigns across media, digital, content and partner channels.
  • Research & Policy Communications
    • Partner with the Marketing & Communications Manager and research team to support the rollout of research campaigns.
    • Lead on PR strategy, media engagement and external narrative development for research outputs.
    • Identify compelling angles, headlines and hooks to position NLA’s research within wider industry and policy conversations.
    • Support the amplification of NLA’s key policy messages through media and campaign activity.
  • Public Engagement & Programme Support
    • Lead communications for public-facing initiatives including the London Festival of Architecture and NLA competitions.
    • Support wider programme communications, ensuring strong storytelling and audience reach.
    • Contribute to growing engagement with broader public audiences.
  • Stakeholder & Partner Collaboration
    • Work collaboratively across internal teams to ensure aligned messaging and coordinated campaign delivery.
    • Support partner amplification by identifying opportunities for joint storytelling and media engagement.

Skills & experience

  • Experience in PR, communications or campaigns (agency or in-house).
  • Track record of securing media coverage and working with journalists.
  • Experience supporting or delivering campaigns (not just standalone outputs).

  • Ability to translate complex topics into clear, accessible content.
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Experience in the built environment, cities, policy or related sectors.
  • Understanding of how communications can support policy influence.
  • Experience working on public engagement or city-wide initiatives.

What Success Looks Like

  • Increased visibility of NLA across media and industry channels.
