SENIOR AUTOMATED TEST ENGINEER JOB OVERVIEW
Responsible for developing and maintaining automated test solutions that support product development, validation, and manufacturing. Designs, develops and deploys scalable test software, test frameworks, and data-driven solutions for state-of-the-art laser products. Works closely with engineers to ensure products are validated efficiently and reliably throughout their lifecycle. Focuses on creating robust, maintainable, and automated test systems that provide actionable data, improve product quality, and support production scalability.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of automated test frameworks, applications, and tools to support product verification, validation, and manufacturing test.
- Develop software solutions to control test equipment, automate measurements, analyse results, and generate reports.
- Develop interfaces to hardware, instrumentation, databases, APIs, and manufacturing systems.
- Act as a subject matter expert for test automation and automated measurement systems.
- Collaborate with optical, electronic, firmware and NPI engineering teams to ensure complete and effective test coverage.
- Create and maintain technical documentation including software design, test specifications, procedures, and work instructions.
- Review requirements and specifications to ensure testability and validation requirements are clearly defined.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
- Relevant degree. Equivalent industrial experience will also be considered.
SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
- Experience developing automated test frameworks and test applications.
- Strong development skills in Python and/or C++/C# as well as database development skills.
- Experience interfacing software with laboratory or manufacturing instrumentation.
- Knowledge of measurement systems and instrumentation communications (TCP/IP, Serial, USB, GPIB, VISA, etc.).
- Experience analysing large data sets and generating technical insights.
- Experience creating technical documentation.
- Ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- More than 5 years of experience developing automated test solutions in an engineering or manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrable experience delivering software-based test automation systems from concept through deployment.
- Experience using Python and/or C++/C# in commercial engineering applications.
- Experience designing and supporting SQL database solutions.
- Experience documenting design, validation methods, and engineering procedures.
TRAVEL EXPECTATIONS
