Our Client is a leading importer, supplying major retailers in the UK with beautiful home textiles and they are now seeking a Technologist to join their team. The candidate will be working alongside colleagues from the Design, QC and Sales departments and collaborating with overseas staff, suppliers and UK customers on technical matters. The role will require technical input on product development and production across all areas of textile home furnishings. A good knowledge of fabric production, product manufacturing and performance standards is required.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Create product specs.
  • Set and maintain colour, fabric, seal, wash care and testing standards with customers and suppliers.
  • Risk analysis of new and existing product, working with the factories to mitigate risks and support them where necessary through pre-production.
  • Assess and seal products at all stages, checking fabrication, make-up, fit, quality, packaging and testing – in line with the critical path.
  • Ensure and raise standards to comply with or exceed customer expectations.
  • Liaise with the UK QC team to identify stock to inspect and implement an action plan according to the results.
  • Liaise regularly with UK customers and attend development and production meetings when required.
  • Generate and complete workbooks.
  • Attend weekly meetings and update critical paths with technical information in line with the business needs.
  • Generate and monitor user trials where necessary.
  • Keep abreast of any changes to textile legislation.
  • Work with the sustainability team to ensure all products meet specific targets.
  • Review and analyse customer reviews online and visit stores to check product and benchmark against competition.

The successful candidate will need to have previous experience working as a Product Technologist, preferably within home textiles. You will have excellent Microsoft Office and Excel skills as well as strong communication and articulation skills.
