A great opportunity has become available for an experienced Commercial Floor Layer to join a well-established flooring contractor carrying out installation works across commercial properties throughout Sunderland, Newcastle, and the wider North East. This is a long-term self-employed position offering £160-£190 per day, depending on experience, with a company van and fuel card provided and consistent work available across a range of commercial contracts.

The Role
As a Commercial Floor Layer, you will be responsible for carrying out flooring installations within a variety of commercial environments, ensuring all work is completed to a high standard, safely, and within project timescales.
Key Responsibilities:
- Installation of commercial vinyl flooring
- Cap and cove installation
- Floor preparation, including smoothing and levelling
- Hot weld finishing and associated flooring works
- Measuring, cutting, and fitting flooring materials
- Carrying out repairs and remedial works where required
- Ensuring all work is completed in line with health and safety standards
- Maintaining accurate records of completed work
- Liaising professionally with site managers, contractors, and colleagues
- Managing workloads effectively across multiple sites
Requirements
- Proven experience in commercial floor laying
- Strong experience fitting vinyl flooring and cap & cove systems
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- High attention to detail and quality workmanship
- CSCS card preferred
- Full UK driving licence
